International Council of Museum passes resolution on Ilisu following appeal by Bianca Jagger.

The International Council of Museums, a non-governmental organisation with a membership of 24,000 museums and museum professionals, passed a resolution on 24 August 2007 calling on its members to appeal to the authorities and private entities in Turkey, Germany, Austria and Switzerland supporting the Ilisu dam project to reconsider their activities contributing to the building of the dam. ICOM was alerted to the dangers threatening the antique town of Hasankeyf and other cultural heritage site by human rights activist Bianca Jagger who urgently appealed to ICOM to get active in protecting this important cultural heritag site.
