Shortly after France had introduced the ticket tax to finance development as the first country on 1. July, there was a debate at the international conference in Brasilia on 6./7. July how it may be possible to assist innovative Instruments on financing development and how they can get on a broaden level. There one could recognize that the issue of international taxes is on gaining ground. The number of countries which want to introduce a ticket tax for financing development has increased from 13 to 18. For example South-Korea, Guinea and Guatemala are involved up to now. The gains will be used for a fund which will finance the acquisition of medication against aids, malaria and tuberculosis. This fund should start his work at the beginning of the Un-Plenum in September. The technical details were discussed in Brasilia. Among the ticket tax some other kinds of taxes, like the Tobin Tax, were on the agenda in Brasilia. A lot of governments show increasing interests in the CTT.
