Internal minutes reveal: Iraq and Syria were not consulted on Ilisu dam.

An internal document obtained by Inforadio RBB reveals that contrary to statement by Turkish press and export credit agencies, Iraq and Syria were not consulted on the Ilisu dam project before the ECA decision.

The minutes of a meeting between the governments of Turkey, Syria and Iraq on March 22nd, 2007, show that only a framework for future talks was agreed upon. This meeting had formed the basis for Germany's development ministry to give the final go-ahead after it had blocked the approval of the export credit guarantees at the beginning of March.
